Editor's Guide to L.A.: Beauty Pick for Fall 2012 - Salon Mikaloj in Beverly Hills

More and more readers have been inquiring about my personal picks, where I go, what I wear, which products I use, beauty tips, etc. With that said, this month I am sharing with you a new feature guiding you through a little place called Los Angeles.

Recently I was asked, "Where do you get your hair done?"

My pick?
Salon Mikolaj in Beverly Hills. This gem is central to world-renowned designer stores and restaurants, which makes it an easy stop on the way out for the evening. Atila Vass is my lifesaver. As a Los Angeles Native he has been styling hair in Beverly Hills for the past 10+ years. What can you expect with this seasoned veteran? Gorgeous supermodel hair, every time. He knows exactly what color complements your completion, which cut accentuates your features and he has perfected smooth & sleek or full & voluminous.

Major perk? In addition to my enviable blow out, he entertains non-stop while sharing stories from styling hair in Hollywood during the '80s. Let's just say this pro has been behind the scenes of runways and events so he might have seen a thing or two...you will just have to go to him yourself to find out the details.

His cards are too precious...

He knows hair and he knows it well, simply put. Ready to invest in your cut and color? Then make an appointment to see my talented hair stylist, Atila Vass.

"All the other kids with the pumped up kicks. You better run, better run. Faster than my bullet" - Foster the People

Meet Ashley.
Style influence?
Ash describes her style as a little mixture of the 70's with a modern update. She is all about simplicity and minimalism. Instead of accessorizing with jewelry she opts for layering. She pairs over-the-knee socks with boots and baby girl sure knows how to make a beanie look good.

What is she listening to right now?...

RSP: What floats your boat?
Ash: Ride my bike, fly kites, roller skate, paint, driving the coast with my windows down...

RSP: How would you describe your look?

Ash: I keep it simple, as far as accessories go. However, I do love earrings. I don't have a huge passion for tons of flare since I like to layer a lot with clothing. I take it easy on accessories so I don't feel like I'm wearing my entire closet at once!
RSP: Finish this sentence: “I Wish…"
Ash: I wish I didn’t have such a dirty since of humor. A little inappropriate at times…

RSP:Oh but Ashley this is why we love you.

Love Ashley's style? She shops American Archive for vintage apparel.

City Escape: Weekend Getaway in Malibu with our Editor

When I need to escape from the daily 9-5, where do I go? I escape to Malibu. But, let's be real, it's not the 9-5, in fact, I'm not sure what you call it when I'm working via my lap top in bed at midnight updating my blog. And truth be told, I brought my lap top with me for my little "weekend getaway."

The good news? I wouldn't have it any other way. I love what I do, I love writing and I love creating stories for my readers. With that said,  I decided to venture to the Westside of Los Angeles for some much-needed inspiration and recharging.

My girlfriends from college invited me to their friend's home overlooking the coveted shoreline. Of course, I did not decline. If you are making your way to a seaside destination make sure to procure a selection of essentials for your city escape...what's on my list?
If you are lounging outdoors make sure to protect and hydrate your skin. No exceptions. Stay "impossibly refreshed" with these skin-care fundamentals plus a few gratifying extras.

1. Eau Avene Facial Mist Spray: Keep your face moisturized with this quick remedy.
2. La Mer The Lip Balm: Pucker up with this lifesaver. Dry lips? Never.
3. Unite Shine Mist: Keep your locks intact from morning-to-night with this beauty must.
4. La Mer The Moisturizing Cream: This baby has been around for years and guess what? It's not going anywhere.
5. Missoni-Printed Towel: An iconic print makes outside lounging even better.
6. Trina Turk Beach Candle: The perfect gift to bring to a gathering at a friend's home...especially a home that over looks the ocean.

Beach days-to-alfresco nights calls for all-American basics...

Now, I understand summer is over however in my book it's still completely appropriate to wear high-rise pencil skirts and light-weight blouses. At least, if you live in L.A...where it's 80 degrees, in September.

Where I slept?

A guest house overlooking the Pacific - I kept the surrounding glass windows open over night to hear the waves crashing. Not a bad way to fall asleep.
What I drank?

Pierre Jouet. I wouldn't have it any other way!
